Eat What the Earth Provides
There is so much confusion out there about what healthy eating is and about macronutrients. Macronutrients are those nutrients that the body needs in large amounts; these provide the body with energy. Every time someone wants to reinvent healthy, they typically cut out a key important food group, or skimp out on macronutrients such as carbs, fats, and proteins. You’ve probably experimented with at least one of these fad diets, like a low-carb or no-carb diet, or fat-free.
Don’t cut out major food groups or macronutrients from healthy carbs, fats, or proteins. Each one of these macronutrients play necessary roles in the way our bodies function. We need them. A fat-free diet for instance can increase your cravings. Healthy fats are essential to a healthy life. And complex carbs are also a necessary source of essential vitamins and minerals needed by the body for normal hormonal balance, skin, nails, hair growth, and so much more. And the key term is complex carbs. When you skimp out on healthy and complex carbohydrates health issues typically follow.
Eat what the earth provides for you. Remember, stored body fat comes from too many calories, not too many carbs or too many fats. Eat a well balanced diet.
Here are some great examples of how to consume each macro in its ideal form: Try incorporating a high protein, high fiber grain like quinoa instead of white rice. Use olive oil, or avocado oil which is a healthy fat, rather than hydrogenated trans fats. And you should choose fats that support your health and immune system: like salmon, coconut oil, avocados, and nuts. Try to avoid fake fats like hydrogenated oils and trans fats. Eat grass fed, natural beef, or chicken / turkey. And remember to spice up your life! Add a variety of spices to make the dishes palate appealing.
Eat and enjoy!
