Workout Excuses You Can Overcome!
As a personal trainer, I have pretty much heard all of the excuses when it comes to your workout. Now, I know there are times when you feel low on energy, or your schedule is overly packed, but sometimes these occasional workout excuses can lead to bad habits and cause you to miss the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
Common excuses: I don't have the time, I'm too tired, I'm too busy, it's too hard, I can't afford it, I don't like to exercise.
How can we beat these common excuses?
I don't have the time. Some of the most effective workouts can be done in under 30 minutes! In fact, a lot of my workout programs can be done in 30 minutes. You can even split up your workout throughout the day to 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening. Remember, if it is important to you, you will find the time.
I'm too tired. The interesting thing about exercise is that it can actually give you MORE energy! You can feel energized even after a quick training session. However, if you are just too exhausted to work out, you may need to consider your sleeping habits and your nutrition habits.
I can't afford it. You don't need to belong to a fancy gym or own a ton of equipment to workout. In fact, you can even improvise with at home products as weights, just use your bodyweight or the great outdoors as you gym. The key is to just move your body!
I don't like to exercise. Find exercise that’s right for you. Start with baby steps by trying different forms of exercise out. You will be less likely to do your workout if you don’t like it. If you have been following me for a while, you would know that I am not a fan of CrossFit or indoor cycling. It’s not that I don’t think it’s an effective form of training, it just doesn’t work for me. I recommend changing the style of training you are doing, if you are only doing it because you think that’s how you will get results, not because you enjoy it. And if you haven’t found a style of training that you love yet, keep trying!
You can overcome anything you put your mind too! If you want something bad enough... and you work hard for it, you can achieve it; I have so much faith in that! It’s called a health and fitness journey for a reason — progress takes hard work and progress is different for every body. Appreciate your body for what it can do, every day is a gift and movement is a GIFT.
Continue to show up for yourself every day.
